The pools of blood of the Kushan soldiers that Ganishka has stepped on begin to stir. Emerging from them are large, tentacled creatures that resemble Ganishka and which leak blood from their eyes and nostrils. They set about eating the few Kushan who've survived being stepped on.
Seeing this from their distant hilltop, the Band of the Hawk all turn to Griffith in search of guidance. He orders them to form up, and then asks Laban and the Arklow Knights to guard the Pontiff and the citizens of Windham. Then, he asks Sonia and Mule to personally protect the Pontiff and Charlotte. Sonia objects, wanting to stay with Griffith, but she is chastised by Mule.
Turning back to the battle, Griffith orders the war demons forward, and they assume their positions in a protective wall between the smaller Ganishka monsters and the rest of the Hawks. Griffith orders their 'demonic release'; the war demons assume their Apostle forms and do battle against the tentacled monsters.
